Month-end accounts
- Wait for the accountant
- Read one profit figure
- Guess what changed
A great sales month can still lose money if chicken went up, waste crept in and the rent rose. By the time the accounts say so, the next month is half gone.
Sales are easy to see. Profit is not. Tahlib Intelligence turns the orders, stock, hours and expenses already in Tahlib into an operating P&L, explains why profit moved, and points at the money leaking out — every number calculated by Tahlib, none of it guessed.
The operating result for last month, and what is leaking.
Most owners learn their profit from an accountant, weeks after the month closed — one number, too late to act on, with no way to see what moved it.
A great sales month can still lose money if chicken went up, waste crept in and the rent rose. By the time the accounts say so, the next month is half gone.
The figures come from records Tahlib already holds — every order, every stock movement, every clocked hour, every expense — so the operating result is ready whenever you look, for today, this month or the last ninety days.
Your accountant still files the accounts. You stop waiting for them to find out how the month went.
Nothing new to type for the core numbers. The more of Tahlib you use, the more of the P&L is filled in.
Every order from the till and the QR menu feeds net revenue — gross sales less VAT, with voided bills left out.
Food cost from Inventory, labour from Workforce clock-ins and hourly rates, operating expenses from Expenses & P&L. A cost line Tahlib cannot fill is labelled, never shown as zero.
Today, yesterday, this week, this month, last month, the last 30 or 90 days — in your restaurant’s own timezone. A period still in progress is compared like-for-like against the same number of days before it.
The waterfall from net revenue to operating profit, with margin, break-even revenue and your margin of safety.
The bridge splits the change into sales volume and mix, discounting, ingredient cost, waste, labour and expenses — and the parts add up exactly to the change.
Eight checks run over the period. Each finding carries an amount and a status you move from open to acknowledged to resolved or dismissed.
Model a price rise, a change in sales volume, a supplier increase or more or fewer hours, and see the effect on a month’s profit.
Every figure is computed by Tahlib’s own code from your own records. There is no AI in the numbers.
Operating profit fell OMR 725 against the previous period. These are the parts — what helped, what hurt, and nothing left unexplained.
Grouped by the question each one answers.
The operating result, line by line.
An exact explanation, not a chart to squint at.
Break-even from your own cost structure.
For owners and investors who put capital in.
Four scenarios, each normalised to a month.
A leak is money the business is losing that it does not have to. Each check looks for one kind, puts an amount on it and tells you what it needed to run.
Ingredient costs rising, waste rising, labour over target, discounting creeping up, cash short at close, a high void rate, low-margin best sellers and stock-count shortfalls.
Checks that measure the same money are grouped, and only the largest counts toward the headline figure. The others stay visible as additional risks, with their amounts — but they are never added on top.
A dish priced below its margin target is money left on the table, not money lost. It is shown as an opportunity, outside the leakage total.
If a check needs Inventory, Workforce or Cashup and you do not use it, the finding is listed as not checked, with the reason — not silently reported as clean.
Intelligence reads what the rest of Tahlib records. Each product you use fills in another part of the picture; whatever is missing is labelled, not guessed.
Every order from the till and the QR menu is the revenue line — the same definition the Expenses & P&L page uses.
Recipe-linked stock movements, waste and counts supply food cost, the waste and ingredient-cost checks, and the stock-count check.
Closed clock-ins and hourly rates supply labour cost and the labour-over-target check.
Rent, utilities and every other recorded expense, by category — the operating-expenses line.
Signed closes feed the cash-short check, so a drawer that keeps coming up light shows as money lost.
Ranks dishes by how often they sell and what they bring in — the same menu the low-margin check reads.

Same numbers, different question.
Built around how restaurants here earn and spend.
Net revenue is gross sales less VAT, and every margin divides by it. The 5% you collect for the Oman Tax Authority never flatters your profit.
A month still in progress is compared against the same number of days before it, so the first week of Ramadan is not judged against a whole ordinary month.
Every Intelligence screen is available in English and Arabic, with proper right-to-left layout, for partners who think in either.

From records already in Tahlib: orders for revenue, Inventory for food cost, Workforce clock-ins for labour, Expenses & P&L for operating expenses, and Cashup for cash variance. Every figure is calculated by Tahlib’s own code — nothing is estimated by AI.
No, but each one fills in a part of the P&L. Without Inventory there is no food cost line; without Workforce there is no labour line. Tahlib labels a missing line as not available and treats operating profit as an upper bound, rather than pretending the cost is zero.
No. It is an operating view of the business for decisions, built from your operational records. It is not audited accounts, and your accountant still prepares the statutory figures.
Each of the eight checks measures one kind of loss against your own previous period or a target — ingredient cost rises, waste, labour, discounting, cash shortages, voids, low-margin dishes and stock-count shortfalls. Checks that measure the same money are grouped and only the largest counts, so the total is never inflated.
You record the capital you put in and the money you take out. Payback divides the capital still to recover by the average operating profit of the last three traded months. With fewer than three months of trading, or no profit yet, it shows no estimate and says why.
No. Payback is a run-rate estimate from real results, and scenarios show the effect of a change you describe. Forecasting demand is not part of the product today.
An optional conversational analyst that answers questions about your figures using the same calculations the screens use. It is switched off by default; when it is on, it never sees customer names or phone numbers, and an answer containing a figure the calculations did not produce is discarded.
The screens offer today, yesterday, this week, this month, last month and the last 30 or 90 days. A free-form custom range is not in the picker yet.
It is priced per branch, monthly or yearly for less, with a free trial — switched on and off from your dashboard. From the second branch each branch costs less; the pricing section above shows both figures.
Switch it on, and the operating result, the bridge and the leak list are built from the records you already keep.
